Musical Sets House Records
KILLER QUEEN! WE WILL ROCK YOU-SETS NEW HOUSE RECORDS AT DOMINION THEATRE Ten Days Sees more than £1 million At Box Office
Now booking until January 2003 at London’s biggest West End Theatre, the Queen/Ben Elton collabration has broken all house records at the theatre which has previously been home to such box office winners as The Beauty and The Beast and Grease.
The past week has seen We Will Rock You set new house records for daily box office and weekly box office receipts. The musical achieved a seven-day gross of £784,866, ‘way ahead of any previous figure recorded’, confirms Dominion Theatre General Manager Stephen Murtagh. Over ten days the musical took in excess of £1 million.
“This proves what we have been saying all along,” says producer Paul Roberts, “this is a show for the public. It’s getting five-minute standing ovations nightly, and people are returning to see it night after night.”
We Will Rock You is a Tribeca Productions, Queen Theatrical Production, and Phil McIntyre production. The show is expected to transfer to the USA Autumn 2003.
