'Gangnam Style' Rapper Psy To Collaborate With Queen Guitarist Brian May?
Psy may have another future hit on his hands after revealing that he is meeting with Queen guitarist Brian May to discuss the prospect of them collaborating together.
The South Korean hitmaker has proved to be a success on his own merit following the viral popularity of his singles 'Gangnam Style' and 'Gentleman,' but it looks as though he may finally be getting help from a member of one of the most legendary bands ever.
Speaking to Radio 1's Scott Mills on Monday, Psy revealed that he had a scheduled meeting with guitarist Brian May the following day. “You remember that I was and I am a really huge fan of rock band Queen? It seems like I’m going to have a brunch with Brian May tomorrow,” Psy told the DJ on Tuesday.
Hinting at a possible collaboration, Psy added: “Seems like it. I don’t know, I’m just going to eat tomorrow, but I’m super excited. The band was an inspiration to me since I was 14 or 15 until now.”
Earlier this week, Psy also praised late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, describing him as a huge influence on his career.
“If it wasn't for Queen at Wembley, I wouldn't be a pop star,” Psy told The Sun in reference to his performance at Capital FM's Summertime Ball on Sunday.
''When I was growing up I would watch Freddie Mercury with all those fans in the palm of his hand. He is the best.''
Meanwhile, it was revealed this week that the video for Psy's latest single 'Gentleman' has now clocked up more than 400 million views on YouTube meaning he is well on his way to enjoying similar success top 'Gangnam Style,' which became the first music video to pass the one billion mark in December.
