The radio station renamed October "Rocktober". The best Rock song poll was held in the first week, ending on Friday 5 October.

In 1985 Queen played several dates in South Africa and were blacklisted by the United Nations. At that stage South Africa was subject to various sanctions due to the apartheidpolicy of the then South African government. Queen maintained that they were "apolitical".
